I am a New Yorker, through and through! I love the fact that I was born and raised in this great state’s upstate region. Originally from Troy and now a Rensselaer resident, I have never lived anywhere other than Rensselaer County. The Hudson Valley is my cherished home and there is no place I’d rather be. I adore the Yankees, embrace the four seasons, and love my heritage. I am blessed beyond words to be a NY native.
But this week, yes this week, this girl’s heart has been wrenched. This beautiful yet liberal state of mine has sent my disappointment soaring. The Governor signed a bill, in a room full of legislative supporters, that would permit abortions up until a woman is full term and for any reason the mother deems necessary. What?! And yet, there are still those who feel that this is acceptable! I reiterate. What?! They are trying to express their views and celebrate this as a victory! A victory? As I watched a room full of celebratory glee, my whole being was engulfed with sorrow, anger, and disbelief all in one fail swoop.
The “Reproductive Health Act ” was passed and abortion has been declared a fundamental right in New York State.
“Due to significant medical advances, the danger of pregnancy to the mother has declined considerably since 1967. Yet even at that time Dr. Alan Guttmacher of Planned Parenthood acknowledged:”
“Today it is possible for almost any patient to be brought through pregnancy alive, unless she suffers from a fatal illness and, if so, abortion would be unlikely to prolong, much less save, life.”
Just for the record, go ahead and re-read that quote again and pay close attention to the source. 👆🏻
Less than 1% of abortions are medically necessary. There is no reason that if you must deliver a child early that it needs to be aborted in the process. Terminating a precious life as if it is trash, is a horrific and gruesome measure that our governing body in New York has failed to realize or discard altogether. I want to shine some light on this abhorrent decision. You see, life is precious and unborn children are people. They are indeed…right from conception. A women’s right over her body is just that…her body. But there is another body that is not hers, yes within her, and indeed an extension of her, but it is a life all it’s own nonetheless. We need to protect these lives. Why is it that at present, people are concerned with animals lives and saving trees more than an unborn child’s right to live!? Yes animals are to be taken care of and nature appreciated but not more than a sweet baby! New York has erred and it’s heartbreaking. And at it’s very worst, was as the decision was signed and sealed, the chamber room was full of jubilant elation and applause as if it was a triumph. What has happened to the human race?
Thank God that He is our hope and He brings us hope! Prayer is what can change all of the injustice.
Please, as you read this, I hope you heard my hearts cry. Because it is prayerful and pressing on to stand up for righteousness sake. Let’s keep praying and be a voice for the voiceless!
God Bless your sweet souls,
